Fasting Day 162 - 109.8 *REACHED MY GOAL !!

Today I am officially at my goal weight. My desire was to weigh between 105 -110 pounds. This morning I weighed 109.8 pounds after eating normally yesterday. My BMI is 20.1 -- which is healthy, normal and within the acceptable range. I will post some before and after photos soon.

I have been alternate day fasting just one week shy of 11 months and I have lost 45 pounds. It has been relatively easy. I feel better and healthier than I have in over 10 years. I really enjoy the way that alternate day fasting makes me feel, so I will continue to do it even though I do not need to lose any more weight. I'll start adding higher calorie foods on my eating day so that I don't lose any more weight. That should stabilize my weight where it is.

My mother is here visiting from Oklahoma. I've been discussing alternate day fasting with her. She brought up a very good idea. Why not use alternate day 'whatever' to help eliminate bad habits? For instance, a smoker who is having a difficult time quitting, could try quitting every other day. Surely that would be possible. Maybe they would just smoke twice as much on their normal smoking day, but maybe not. It would be worth a try.

Congratulations! Are you continuing with the fast now or is there some sort of maintenance program?

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I'm wishing success to all of you in whatever you endeavor to do.

Yes, I will continue to alternate day fast, because I like the effects. I'll make adjustments as needed to maintain my weight.

I'm not sure what maintainance on alternate day fasting will consist of, so I will continue to update my blog to track the experience.

I'm eager for an update on how success is going...

My ADF continues--not really "easy" or "difficult"--it's just there. Down 11-12 lbs in 40 days. For me that's really good.

Very interesting. I'm on Day 7 of my water fast and only now is the terrible, agonizing hunger starting to slacken. Alternate day fasting suddenly doesn't sound so daunting...

As to your mom's suggestion that alternate day abstaining would work for smoking, well, as a recovering alcoholic I nearly fell off my chair laughing my a$$ off at the idea. Believe you me, when it comes to addictions, that dog won't hunt!

Congratulations on reaching your goal and thank you for writing this blog to help the rest of us. I started alternate day fast with protein water on my fasting day and the weight fluctuates so much that I was considering giving up until I came across your blog. I will now try it with less protein water on my fast day and see if that will help. Thank you again for all the inspiration you provide.
